Twelve months after its launch, the Notts Care Record (NCR) is playing an increasingly important role in helping health and care professionals across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire access the information they need to provide safe, joined-up care.
Over the past year, the Notts Care Record has grown significantly, bringing together information from NHS, local authority and care partners into a single shared view.
The result is quicker access to vital information, fewer delays, less duplication and better-informed decisions for the people and communities we serve.
While the numbers highlight the scale of adoption, feedback from colleagues across the system demonstrates the difference the Notts Care Record is making in practice. Teams within Nottinghamshire County Council’s Contact and Advice Service report that access to the NCR has helped them make faster decisions, ensure people are directed to the right support first time.
It has reduced duplication across organisations by providing visibility of activity already taking place elsewhere in the system. Clinical teams have also described benefits in preparing for appointments and visits, accessing previously unavailable information and improving conversations with patients and service users.
Whilst colleagues supporting people at the end of life have highlighted how shared access to information can reduce the need for individuals and families to repeat their story. Hospital and community teams have welcomed the ability to access a broader range of information when assessing and supporting patients.
Feedback from partners also emphasises the ease of use of the platform. Clinicians have praised the breadth of information available through the record and the ability to access key information quickly when working in busy environments.
The continued growth of the NCR reflects the strength of collaboration across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire and a shared commitment to improving how information is used to support care.
As the programme continues to evolve, Digital Notts and its partners will build on the success of the Notts Care Record. Expanding connectivity and increasing data sharing opportunities will ensure health and care professionals have the information they need, when they need it most.
