Improving Staff Engagement to Increase Patient Adoption of the NHS App in General Practice

Amjid Yaqub, Assistant Practice Manager and Digital Lead across four Nottingham and Nottinghamshire GP practices, has led a practical, staff-focused approach to increasing NHS App use. By building staff confidence, promoting key features such as repeat prescriptions and access to health records, and creating local digital champions, the practices have helped more patients access services online. This has reduced routine enquiries, eased pressure on reception teams, and improved patient access to healthcare information and services.

Cyber security colleague shortlisted for national award

A Nottinghamshire cyber security specialist has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award. Monique Botha, a Cyber Security Analyst Technologist working across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire ICS, has been named a finalist in the NHS England Award category at the National Cyber Awards 2026. The recognition follows her earlier success at the NHS Cyber Awards, where she received the Cyber Rising Star Award, highlighting her growing contribution to cyber security across health and care services. The winner will be announced at a ceremony in London on 28 September 2026.
