Earlier this week, colleagues from Digital Notts hosted another successful digital champions training session for patient representatives in Mansfield.
The training, led by our Digital Inclusion leads Rosie Hercek and Laura Norsworthy, saw 15 volunteers from Rosewood PCN (primary care network) and students from West Notts College, become the latest cohort of ‘NHS App digital champions’ to graduate across Nottingham & Nottinghamshire ICS.

The group also discussed the benefits of using the NHS App for patients like themselves, as well as the benefits to GP Practices and the NHS in general.
Jayne Birch-Jones, co-chair of Roundwood patient participant group, said:
“It was great to get patients from different GP Surgeries within Rosewood PCN together for this interactive session. The session was very informative, and it was good to share different experiences of how the NHS App has helped people.”
“We have all pledged in different ways to help other patients understand how to use and benefit from the NHS App.”
Having successfully ‘graduated’ as digital champions, the patient volunteers now are encouraged to use and share their new skills and knowledge to support others in the local community.
In the coming weeks and months, they will be working with Rosewood GP practices, local community groups, employers and even friends and family to encourage others to use the NHS App.
Digital champion training is delivered as part of Digital Notts’ nationally recognised Digital Inclusion programme. The programme focuses on supporting our diverse communities ensuring no-one is left behind as the NHS App and other digital technologies provide greater access to health and care services in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
