Digital Social Care Programme - sharing our learnings with national colleagues

Last week, representatives from Digital Notts, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire ICB and a local care home manager were invited to present at the National Digitising Social Care Programme Away Day in Leeds, sharing Nottingham & Nottinghamshire ICS’s experience of implementing and using digital social care records (DSCR).
Jennifer Allen (Project & Business Change Manager, Digitising Social Care Programme, Digital Notts), Rose Dent (Improvement Lead, Enhanced Health in Care Homes Team, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire ICB) and Kassee Bird, Registered Manager at Boughton Manor Care Home, shared their experiences to an invited audience of over 30 colleagues from across NHS England.

Attendees at the Away Day included:

  • the Head of Digital Strategy and Innovation (Adult Social Care) at the Department of Health and Social Care,
  • the Deputy Director, Adult Social Care Technology Policy/SRO for the Digitising Social Care Programme
  • and other national senior level representatives.

The presentation was an opportunity to share the key actions/deliverables of the Programme across our ICS and provide some honest feedback on the implementation and rollout challenges, helping to influence and improve any similar programmes in the future.
At the same time, Kassee was able to share first hand, the practical experience and impact from the perspective of a care home implementing a DSCR at Boughton Manor Care Home.

During a Q&A session, Kassee spoke about how:

  • All the information for a person is held securely one place.
  • It’s easy to access and can save time, enabling more time for personal support.
  • Routine tasks and reminders can be scheduled electronically, making teams’ more efficient.
