Bassetlaw Action Centre - Case Study

Increasingly, access to online health services is crucial for managing personal health and well-being. Not everyone had the digital literacy skills or confidence needed to navigate these services.
Bassetlaw Action Centre are addressing this gap by helping Bassetlaw citizens to download, register and use the NHS App.
This case study highlights the impact of the BAC’s support on one individual referred to as Mr ‘O’. By providing personalised assistance, BAC is empowering individuals to take control of their health through digital means, ensuring that no one is left behind in the digital age

Mr “O” and the NHS App

Mr “O” was scrolling through his Facebook when he saw that Bassetlaw Action Centre (BAC) were helping people to download and use the NHS App. Mr O attended our drop-in session and we helped him to download and register for the App. We also showed him how to go through his prescriptions and medical information so that he could put together a medical report.

During this meeting, Mr O advised that he needed to complete a capability to work questionnaire but was struggling to get the supporting evidence. We helped him to download his prescription information and complete the relevant form.


Mr O now feels confident in using the NHS App. He plans to continue to use the App if he needs to provide any further information and to manage his health interactions. He is aware that BAC are available to provide support if he would like it to further increase his usage of the NHS App.

BAC's support in Bassetlaw

BAC are providing help to download, register and use the NHS app to people in the Bassetlaw area who may not otherwise be able to access it. BAC show how it can be used in real time situations, as well as to manage your health by ordering prescriptions, view test results, contacting GPs etc. BAC’s efforts are not only helping individuals like Mr O but are also fostering a more digitally inclusive community where everyone can benefit from the convenience and efficiency of online health services
